Plastic Surgeon Visit

On Wednesday, Emma and I went to see the plastic surgeon for her three-month post op check-up.

He was impressed with the way she healed, but was also surprised to see how hard and contracted her scar still is. He told us we have to massage it for the next few months every day at least four times a day to help it soften up.

Emma is not very fond of the doctor, but he was able to make friends by telling her that her boots looked fancy! She was so proud when she told him: "Mamma got the boots at the Wal-Mart!!!!" Yup, I did. At "the" Wal-Mart. Funny girl.

He also told us that he doesn't need to see her until June, which means no more surgeries for a while - phew!!!!!!

Love to all,

Laura

Okay. Massage works wonders! If you can order it on-line, get something called Bio-Oil. Massage it into her scar while you ask her to make kissy face and smile, kissy face and smile. Our plastic surgeon says Mederma is a waste of money and does NOTHING for scars of their magnitude. If you can't get it, I will mail you some Bio-Oil. We softened Brie's lip, significantly, when she first got home from China with gentle Vitamin E oil massages. If you look at her China pics, vs. some of the pics from three months later, the improvement in the flexibility of her lips is just from working out the scar with my fingers. It REALLY does help.
Yeah! No more surgeries for a while!
